From Sennheiser's description:
The MD 412 is equally suited for speech or music recordings. The frequency range covers 50 - 14,000 Hz and meets the requirements of the Hi-Fi standard to DIN 45 500. By means of the speech/music switch the frequency responsecan be altered to meet the Hi-Fi standard again when the microphone is used even at close up talking distance of 5 cm. The super-cardioid directional characteristic of the MD 412 ensures good reordings ven under difficult conditions such as noisy backgrounds or rooms with bad acoustics.
